[han is gearing up to head out on this crystal expedition, and he's got his crew ready. finn is sitting it out--han sent him home sick just the other day, and hasn't heard from him since, which is slightly concerning. he hopes the guy just wants some space to recover. but he's still got rey, and leia and natsume are tagging along too, which means the only other person missing from their happy little family is kylo ren.
han reaches out over the amulet as he works on hauling extra provisions onto the ship--he knows some other people will probably pop up wanting a ride for this little adventure, so he's stocking up.]
[The other end of the line opens without pause, and while normally Han would be met with slight annoyance or exasperation, there's absolutely no emotion in his monotone whatsoever.]

[Even normally Kylo wouldn't care that much about the idea of "looking good in the community," but his current state of mind takes it so close to zero that he doesn't even have the desire to get huffy about it or outright refuse.
In lieu of any actual words, what comes through is a noncommittal sound that gives off the impression of meh.]
[talking like that isn't too unusual for ren, but the tone he delivers it in is. han hasn't heard him sound this hopeless since...what, his arm was ruined? it causes a pulse of alarm to come across from han's side and he stops what he's working on to give his son his full attention.]

[han has to squash the urge to drop what he's doing and go over to ren's house--between him just blurting out the problem and admitting he doesn't feel like doing anything without a fight, it's all too clear that something is seriously wrong. but it's almost time to leave and he has to get ben a new amulet. he has to get ben a new amulet. he repeats it to himself a few times before he works up the ability to speak again.]

Okay, just-- [he doesn't even know what advice to give. don't forget to eat? get a blanket so you don't get cold even if you don't care??? that's the kind of thing han would be fussing about if he were with ben physically.] Just, be good, okay? I'll bring you a crystal and you'll be fine. It'll just be a few days.
[Perhaps when he's well again, he'll appreciate the fact that he wasn't able to get annoyed over Han's clear anxiety. Even without the apathy, he'd have been tired enough. It's much easier to just not care about it.]
