It was only with Luke Skywalker's help that Hux was able to get Kylo Ren to the proper medical facility. Though Luke departed quickly enough to avoid any more questions or threats from the two heads of the First Order, Hux still had plenty to deal with regarding Ren's state of health. The doctors and nurses that began to attend to the knight easily determined the causes of his state, but in order to properly treat him—they needed that mask off of him. They couldn't figure out how to get it off without injuring him further, and didn't have the time to figure it out on their own, so they turned to the general to ask for his assistance.

As convenient as it would have been for Ren to stay unconscious, Hux would need to wake him again to get him to take it off.
