He's her son and she loves him and even if he's generally rude and dismissive, it's nice to hear his voice and know he's okay. It's a different sort of feeling than hearing him talk to someone else from a distance.
But Leia also knows that Ben doesn't quite agree with her, and that if she wants him to actually talk to her, she'll need a reason for this visit. And she does have a few reasons in mind, a few things she needs and wants clarification on.
