[And yet, one insignificant traitor was enough to keep them from the map, awaken a new Force user, find his father, and bring them all to Starkiller base where they could break all of his and the First Order's plans into tiny worthless pieces.]
I can't help it. If I'd just—
[What makes him the most angry is that it feels like his fault. He'd sensed something in FN-2187 in Tuanul, and did nothing. If he hadn't ignored it...
His fist briefly tightens before Hux puts his hand over it, and Kylo glances at him, both his fist and his expression losing some of their tension.]
... that's why I try to forget about his presence.
[Hux is unsure what Ren was about to say, but it's best to leave the topic for now. It's not like he really wants to sit here and talk about someone that broke through his programming to join the Resistance. It's such an insult to everything Hux has worked for.]
Focus on people that are far more important.
[Like him.]
Back home, we'll ensure that he dies. I'm sure that's something we'll both be able to agree on.
[But instead of any further argument, he simply shoves his face into the crook of Hux's neck, because it's Hux's fault for the dive in his mood, and thus it's his responsibility to cheer Kylo up.]
[maybe Ren show have better control of his emotions!!]
...
[Going back home is almost a foreign thought at this point, perhaps that's dangerous but until a true method is found, Hux isn't honestly splitting hairs about it. They'll all return eventually with no time lost, memories gone as if this entire stay in Verens never happened.
Hux stops himself from thinking further among those lines, instead just placing a hand on the back of Ren's head while the other goes to his back. Despite his attempt to keep his emotions in check, the air becomes slightly cooler.]
[For a few moments, Kylo allows himself to enjoy the contact without thought, letting the previous conversation slip away and the related feelings along with it. But with his own mind emptying, it's that much easier to sense the slight dip in Hux's mood, even without the change in temperature. He sits up again, though doesn't move far enough away as to shove off Hux's hands.]
So. What do you suggest I do while I'm recovering, since you won't permit me to be on my feet.
[There's no guarantee he'll actually sit around when Hux isn't here, but whenever he is, Kylo is willing to keep up the charade. Mostly.]
[With a huff, Kylo takes one of Armitage's hands and places it on his own shoulder, his impatience coming to the surface. He's never been one for hints and clues; what he wants is almost always openly indicated, if not outright said.]
Seeing that you brought this upon yourself, you don't get to complain.
[He raises one eyebrow, but he allows his hand to be guided back onto Ren's shoulder. Well, it seems that he isn't shy about showing him what he wants.]
If I'm feeling generous, I might consider your preferences.
[He narrows his eyes at Hux, not liking the insinuation that he'd just grab whatever boring thing and bring it to Kylo. What's the point in going through the effort in that case?]
I'm not about to read something I'm not interested in.
[Laying his head against the back of the couch lazily, he folds his arms.]
You should know by now that I'm going to bother you if I'm bored, so it's in your best interest to keep me occupied.
[He lets himself be moved, simply watching Hux. The redhead may not have rolled his eyes, but the feeling of it is obvious enough.]
Years that we spent mostly busy with things other than each other. Do you really think you can "handle" me when all my attention is on you?
[The expression on his face is somewhat serious, but he's sort of teasing—he'd never really done anything to deliberately antagonize or spite Hux in their galaxy, and Ren tried not to waste time thinking about him. He was simply an annoyance back then, sometimes an ally, sometimes a minor obstacle.]
[A hint of humor comes to his eyes in response, absolutely sure that he is one of the most dangerous people Hux has dealt with. In his mind, it's him and Supreme Leader—non Force sensitives hardly count.]
So, does that mean you're not going to get anything for me to do? Not that I mind bothering you to pass the time.
[All these holidays celebrated by the otherworlders not from their galaxy were a bit confusing, but that's not to say Leia doesn't appreciate the spirit behind them. This particular holiday being about people you love and appreciate, well, Ben fits that category, whether he wants to or not. She may not know much about Valentine's Day, but she knows that much.
On the 14th, Ben will get a delivery. No flowers here, and no chocolates, either. She doesn't know enough about the foods Ben prefers to confidently choose something he'd like. Instead, he gets a box filled with several different types of tea. There's a note with it indicating it's from her, but no explanation of the reason for the package if he's looking for one.]
[The note goes into the firepit—though it is read, which is more than he should be doing, he thinks—and the tea goes into the cabinet with no indications it's from anyone else. If Hux asks, he'll say he got it himself. And he'll refuse to admit where it came from to himself whenever he uses it, although he won't be able to entirely banish the knowledge...
It's just tea. It doesn't matter where it came from.]
[Kylo can probably sense Leia coming well before she gets there, both her approach and her general demeanor, which is on-edge and angry. Not the usual attitude she has when visiting Kylo. And it's not because of Kylo himself, not exactly. It's everything else that has her on edge.
If the door is unlocked, Leia will open it herself and enter the house looking for Kylo. If not, she'll wait for the door to be unlocked, or at least for Kylo to show up at the door. Because it's clear she's not willing to put up with his usual game of ignore his parents. She has things she needs to know from him, and he can be his usual self once she has answers.]
[He does indeed sense her approach, largely due to the negativity that's surrounding her, and after nearly rolling his eyes and informing his roommate of their imminent "guest," he does actually get up to open the door. She's obviously come for a reason and isn't about to be ignored, and Kylo has to admit to himself that he's curious as to what's got her so riled up.
It doesn't mean he's going to be polite, however.]
[him actually opening the door with no real fuss is enough of a surprise. Kylo being polite on top of that might just have meant the entire island was falling out of the sky.
Her expression is guarded as she searches him, looking for any indication at all that might tell if he was the one responsible for Anakin finding out.]
"What"?
[a disbelieving, fed-up sort of huff follows as she repeats his greeting.]
Should I take that to mean you weren't the one to tell Anakin?
[Kylo shifts his weight, a look of distaste coming to his face as he peers down at Leia. The distaste is both at the mention of Anakin and having to talk to his mother about it. ... and possibly his family in general.]
Tell him what, exactly. [He's told Anakin a few things; perhaps one of those is what's got her so angry, but likely not.]
[she notices that shifting, but what she isn't sure of is if that's an indication he's feeling guilty or whether it's because he's just uncomfortable in general. She's not sure which she hopes it is, honestly.
Despite the obvious distaste coloring his expression, Leia keeps her focus on him and only him. Just in case there's any slight change that might indicate he's hiding something.]
I'm sure you can guess.
[because there's really only one big thing that Anakin learning would set Leia off like this.]
Someone made Anakin aware of my relation to him. Was it you?
[He's basically always hiding something from his parents, though in this particular instance nothing he's hiding is actually relevant to the current situation. Especially since honesty has the possibility of hurting more:]
All I told him was that you were here and I hated you.
[Names were left out of it, because he didn't see the point in details. After Anakin so vehemently rejected his future, Ren lost interest in him.]
Not that I would have been opposed to telling him your identity, had he asked. [So feel free to continue being angry at him.]
